Thank you, Dilip. As suggested by other friends one day trip to Mysore would be very tedious. You need to stay one day at Mysore to cover 7-8 tourists spots in around Mysore. Please mention from where you are starting and arriving.

Dilip,
one day is too tight for covering all that you can see. Make it two days you can cover Srirangapatna, Nimishamba temple, All of Mysore, Somanathpur temple (exquisite architecture), Ranganatittu Bird sanctuary (many be a bit early).

Since u r 8 persons, take a tempo traveller of 10 or 12 seats. Book it previously so that the van can come before 6.30 in the morning. U can startt at 6.30 in the motning and come back by 11.00 in the night to Banaluru.

U can cover Mandya / Srirangapattana enroute to Mysore to visit Tippu's museum, cemetry and Ranganatha's temple.

At Mysore u can visit Chamundi hills (before 12 noon), Mysore palace, Jahngir Art Gallery, Zoo (if time permits), Mysore silks show room (if time and money permits) and leave for Brinavan (also being called KR sagar) by 5 pm, which is 12 kms from mysore. U can enjoy the dam sight, garden and lighting upto 8.30 pm and return to Bangalore b 11 pm.

U can adjust ur brekfast enroute to Mysore, finish Lunch at Mysore and dinner enroute to Bangalore back.

Hire a cab (Indica / Sumo as per the number of travellers).

Leave at 6.30 AM from Bangalore.

Just 20 Km before Mysore, you will reach a place known as Srirangapatnam (Tipu's capital) by around 9.30 AM.

Visit Rangnathswamy temple, Tipu's Summer Palace and Tipu's Gumbaz (where he lies buried).

This should get over by noon and now leave for Mysore.

1st thing - Go to Mysore palace. Be there for around 2 hrs.

Have lunch.

By now it should be around 3 PM. Go to Mysore zoo. Be there till 5.30-6.00 PM till it gts closed.

Now, leave for Brindavan gardens. Spend around 2 hrs and by 10 pm leave for Bangalore.

Hope this helps.

Do not take the guided tours. Waste of time more than money really. Instead hire a car, its a 3-4 hr drive. Stop on the way at Kamaths on the highway for breakfast. Mysore has a nice zoo and a great palace. Places around Mysore are equally interesting. Try Sangam, some very nice monuments there. Go to srirangapatnam to see the Rangandittu birds sanctuary. Go up the Chamundi hill, see the lalitha mahal palace (its gorgeous), there are stables near by and even a boating club. I suggest take 2 days and enjoy the place. A one day hit and run will be tiring as traffic in and out of Bangalore is terrible and eat away most of your time.
Cheers.

Mr Dilip

Commuting time from Bangalore to Mysore is 150 minutes by contract coach/ksrtc volvo bus. Sightseeing for you people ideally should comprise of Srirangpatna-Tipu palace, Ranganathswamy Temple, Brindavan Garden (evening only); at Mysore Zoo, Palace, Jaganmohan Arts Gallery, Chaumandi Hills. Program could be drawn comfortably with overnite stay at Mysore.

Hello Dilip,

There will be daily buses plying to Mysore in the morning from Majestic. Get into it and you can reach Mysore in abt 3.5 hrs. Once reached keeping Mysore as base point you can go to no of places like Mysore palace, Chamundi hills and KRS.Travel in local buses, it is cheap and best. You can cover all this in one day. But I suggest you to stay there for a night and travel to ooty road for Himvad Gopalaswamy betta at early morning. You can hire cab for this and also visit Bandipur National Park and come back to Mysore. All the best for your journey.
