Iam planning a 6 day trip to Munnar in 2nd week of March and would like some suggestions for my itinarary. I was thinking of joining some trekking group. Then I read that thekkady might be a good place to visit. Id like to do some rafting if possible. Suggestions welcome.
Answers to travel information on
Munnar in Kerala
In Munnar, you could spend a day in and around the dam. There are some speed thrill boat rides. You should try and visit a tea plantation and see the process of tea making. Check for tea tasting guide too.
Eravikullam and Parambikkulam Wildlife Sanctuary are close by. In case you are driving you can drive thru Eravikullam to Chinnar head for Valparai and then to Pollachi.
Hope this helps.
Spend more time in Thekkady Periyar if you like trekking. From the info centre inside the sanctuary you can engage a forest guide [compulsory] for trekking - 1 day, few hours or overnight. The charges are reasonable and the local tribal guides know the jungles like the back of their hands and always spot wildlife. Rafting also possible through the forest dept. All rates are very reasonable and activities are most rewarding. You wont be disappointed.
Hello Omprakash, you didn't specify from which place (Probably Chennai, since your profile says you stay in Chennai) are you travelling to Munnar and what is on your agenda. I believe you've enough (6 days) time to fit in a lot of things in your itineary. You can visit Idduki, may be Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary also, if you are interested in wildlife, which can be clubbed with a visit to Kumily.
