Savana Durga. - Trekking or Rock Climbing
Savana Durga, monolithic rock from base near Sri Veerabhadraswamy Temple.
Hi all,
Last time i had been to Kumara Parvatha Trekking, this time i had mixed kind of experience, means trekking plus rock climbing experience.
Saturday, 20-01-2007 i had been to "Savana Durga" along with my Friends Vishal, Praveen and Nagesh (new Frnd). This time also all happened suddenly.
We all started from Bangalore (VijayNagar), towards Magadi Road, to "Savana Durga" around 12:00PM(afternoon). It is a place, where you can find a massive monolithic rock situated at 60 km from Bangalore, rising to an altitude of 4000 ft above the sea level. The major attraction here is a temple dedicated to Sri Basaveswara (At The TOP of Betta) . Temples dedicated to Sri Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy and Sri Veerabhadraswamy, situated at the base of the hill also draws a large number of devotees.
Sri Veerabhadraswamy Temple. Sri Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy Temple.
The hill is also a favorite haunt for day trekkers.
Magadi Road is also known as a State Highway, but not up to mark. Road work is going on....soon one can expect a good road. But without any hesitation you can take this route to reach Savana Durga.
After traveling 40-50 Km From Bangalore, you will start seeing a monolithic rock structure. You have to take Left turn at a place where magadi is still about 12 - 15Km.[ For more info: Ask Villager's, they will guide you. ]
Once you reach the place, take darshan of Sri Veerabhadraswamy and Sri Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy. Then start trekking or rock climbing. This time around, it is a totally different experience but not the toughest one. The top is around 2-3Km from base. We started around 1:45PM and reached the top at 04:30PM. It is really nice.
 Way to the TOP !!
On the way to the top, u can find lot of arrow marks, which will guide you to reach the TOP. You will also find 2-3 rest points (of course you can take rest at any point!!) . Take enough water with you(2-3 liters will do).

Rest Points...on the way
Just before the top u will find some old structures. ( Shown Below)

Just 10min...you are at the TOP. There U can find Basava(Bull) Temple, which is built at the edge of the hill. I took photo from back side.
