I learnt about this hotel from wikitravel. Stayed 2 nights in two delux room four of us in mid january. The hotel is far away from the city center. Rooms are very tiny, no space to move, smell aweful. In attached dirty bathroom (like public toilets in anywhere india) there is no ventillation. They keep half the windows (of bedroom) open all the time. So sleep in cold. Very dirty duvet. Bed sheets were changed but, we found some dirty patches (guess what!!!!). We asked for hot water to make tea, and nominal warm (oh god they dont know what is hot water) was given to us in a plastic mug !!! hotel stuff are very unfriendly particularly in arranging any tour. in a single sentence, it was utterly utterly unpleasent experience to stay in that hotel particularly with family. Finally why i stayed there, because i booked the rooms 2 weeks in advance with half of the tariff. so i had to live in that slum. What a shame in the name of hotels in beautiful gangtok.
I will never recomend this hotel to anybody. My suggestion is, when you reach gangtok, see minimum 2-3 hotels, negotiate (this is india my friend!!! use your head and bargain...). And then take the room. Finally, rule of thumb try to take hotel which has local gangtok people (or tibet, or nepali) as care taker or manager. They are very helpful. Never go to a hotel where there are people from mainland; they are cheat. The price of this hotel is given in wbesite as 600 rs plus 10% tax per room. During off season, you can really get very good quality hotel (as i came to know when i spoke to some local people) with this budget, even cheaper if you can talk nicely with local nepali or sikkimise people.
I didnot like anything about this hotel. It was a disgusting and utterly terrible experience to live in there with family. Please if anybody knows how to edit descriptions in wikitravel , please do that. It is highly misleading to read them and then end up in a disaster.
