Lords Central, epitomises the charm of Matheran. What Matheran used to be before countless hotels sprang up. Its a lovely place for a quiet weekend. it has an old-wrold charm to the place. The rooms are spacious. A badminton court and swimming pool. A good view of the valley. Good food, all of which is included in the package. There was a charming family atmosphere about the palce, but at the same time highly professional.

The old-world charm of the hotel. Its not a swanky new places, but a place that takes you back in time. The service is excellent. The food is delicious. Traditional Parsi food for non-veggies, and good enough options for veggies too. The family environment of the place, right from being greeted at the entrance by Rusty (the cocker spaniel). Had booked a regualr room, but was given an upgrade, since they had valley-facing rooms available. (Most hotels these days would hold on to their better rooms, hoping for a walk-in client.). A nice collection of readers digests and national geographic magazines, whcih was nice reading while watching the valley after dinner.

Its really very hard to think of something i didn't like. But perhaps they could have larger TV sets in the spacious rooms.

Built in British era and is managed by the family(Lords) which resides in the campus. This resort has an elegance which all other hotels in matheran miss.(except for "Verandah in Forest" a.k.a "Barr House"). The mid-sized campus surrounded by valley on one side and a garden on other side has something for all age groups. (well.. Business travellers should not be visiting in Matheran). The seating arrangement between the pool and valley is an ideal place for the chit-chat. The carrom and table tennis area naturally fenced by bushes made playing comfortable. The Giant floor Chess ( King piece is three feet taller) excited my five year old kid who played the game alone. The resorts serves both Veg and Non-Veg food and the package usually includes all the meals.Quality of food is very good. The Hotel remains in Monsoon ( June- Mid Sep) Three types of room from Valley View, Valley Side View and Garden Facing room the first one being the costlier one and I liked the third one.

1) Comfortable mixture of greenery and facilities. The Activity area that mixes well with the Garden. 2) The Garden facing cottages coloured white and brown makes a pleasant picture 3) Most of the good locations of Matheran are equi distant from here. 4) One can watch the sunrise from the campus ( with a cup of tea)

1) Fixed timings for food ( 2hrs window per meal). one has to manage the outings based on this timing. Food quality goes down towards end of this window. 2) Valley Side view room (2008 March) looked little messier than garden facing rooms (Nov 2009)
