The overall experience of staying in the resort was not encouraging. I will look for other places to stay if i visit kodai again. The sprawling area nestling in the valleys facing a scenic peak in front could have attracted repeat visitors - if there was minimum effort taken for maintenance and good service and hospitality.
we went in the peak season when kodai was swarming with visitors from all over the world. Usually hotels will deck up and provide special facilities (albeit at a cost) during this time aiming to extract maximum business. But sterlings seemed unperturbed by all the frenzy around! i am restraining myself to think that this indeed was the summit performance of the staff and management and it could be worse if we had been there during an off-season!!
the overall ambience was a very cheap roadside hotel whereas the cost was kept at a three star level.
The good things about the resort is its well-pruned lawns and gardens. Although with that huge area to play around with one could expect some modern landscaping with rocks and small fountains.
the small children's play area is also useful.
for those looking for quiet and serenity, the location is perfect. Although you miss the lake, the surrounding hills have an impact - specially in the night - when the calm dark hills are sparkling with tiny dots of lights.
The minimum expectation of any guest - cleanliness and good service - is completely ignored here. Room service is almost nil and very delayed if it ever happens. The rooms are very damp and stink and are inhabitated by generations of flies and other insects. The bathroom is a sheer torture! there is no privacy - as you can hear every tinkle and whisper in the next room. The so-called multi-cusine restaurant has almost nothing to offer and almost always runs out of food after a few guests. There is no regular room-cleaning service. If you ask them to do do somthing about the hundreds of flies in the room, the regular response is that no one is available in facilities at the moment.
nothing moves here. It reminds you of the pathetic infamous government office environment - where minimum work is done at the slowst of pace and maintenance of the office infrastructure is a mad dream!
