Cidade de goa is located at vainguinim beach, dona paula. Dona paula, known for its water sports and bargain shops, forms the central part of south goa. One can see a string of 5-star and 5-star deluxe hotels along the south coast of goa. The holiday mood set in as we stepped in the hotel at 7:00 a.M. As can be expected in goa, all the hotel staff were clad in a floral dresses. We were greeted with sea shell garlands. Cidade de goa, rated 5-star is beautiful, covered on all sides by a fort-like wall natural structure. The ambiance is nice if you are a foreigner or a honeymooner as they form the majority of the hotel’s guests. Overall, it was a memorable experience and good while it lasted. After 3 days of total indulgence, we returned with our minds full of wonderful sights, a 256 mb card of kodak moments and a bag full of pebbles.

I liked

the natural environs and the mouth-watering food were clearly the highlights of our vacation. The hotel has a private beach which is protected by cliffs on both ends, a natural barrier for trespassers. The beach is quite small compared to the other south goa hotels. Nevertheless, it is clean and well maintained. The moment that we enjoyed the most was after sunset when all the sunbathers had retired to their rooms. The feeling of lying on the beach under the huts, listening to the waves lashing against the rocks, palm trees swaying to the wind, with music playing at a distance in the background, is beyond description. Wining and dining before we left on this holiday, friends advised us to try the pomfret fry and feni at the beach shacks. But we never got a chance to step out of the hotel’s restaurants. The food was absolutely delicious at the in-house restaurants - laranja & lagoa azul. I'd rather not elaborate on the choc mousse and make you go green with envy.

I didn't like

hospitality is not at its best at cidade de goa. The decor is nice. The hotel tries hard to sport a portuguese look. Except the “caval heiros and senhoras” outside the restroom, there was nothing portuguese about it. The rooms are not designed with taste and not spacious enough like the taj. You get only the beach for free :), every other facility including half an hour of a shuttle game is charged. On that account, i wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all, for the price you pay! while most hotels in that category offer free drop/pickup services frm airport and railways station, cidade de goa doesn't, which is quite an inconvenience, if you're arriving early in the day. Despite informing the hotel staff that we would check in early, we had to wait in the lobby for a good 3 hours, as were many other guests.

Nice leisure resort, located at vainguinim beach, panjim. Excellent place for those wish to relax and enjoy goa. A very peaceful location. It is ideal plce if you wish a privacy you can really enjoy quality time with family.

Location is really good, very peaceful. nicely maintained resort. lot many places to relax with in resort. nicely maintined sweeming pool. food is really tasty.

Sea water is not clean do not feel like having a bth there. Actually a drain is coming to sea with in premises of resort, that is making water smelling and black colored. hotel rooms structure is quite complicated. slightly more costly as compare to aother leisure hotels of its cataegory.

Plus points- good ambience, good crowd , good food. minus points- private beach is dirty , casino in hotel is not worth going as the crowd is local and pathetic. air conditioning in the hotel isnt that great . the hotel staff is more keen on serving the foreign guests than indian regardless of who spends how much. and this staff includes bell boy to the hotel manager. spa isnt upto the mark as advertised.

The name luxury starts from "cidade de goa". You can't expect anything more than this in the cost they offer. Though i visited the place in off season, but the services they were rendering were didn't look like so. City tour packages are tailor made for you with a professional guide in a air conditioner coach, was the major highlight of the whole tour. Food offered in our package was excellent ranging from continental, chinese, indian, mughlai to even thai. Facilities offered in the resort were goldfinger casino - 24hr state of the art gaming facility, business centre, high speed internet access, water sports, floodlit tennis courts, beach volleyball, giant chess, jogging path, table tennis, badminton, etc.. Overall experience was excellent. One can go there without even thinking.

For parents they are having baby sitting facility, which is offered free of cost. Even baby's feeder are filled free of cost as many times as one may ask. Foor was excellent. Extra curricular activities were damn good.

Hard to tell but let me recollect my memories. Casino was a bit small as compared to other good hotels in goa.
