I stayed here in august 2008 for 3 days. This is a very different resort from what you may be used to - very "hatke". if you need cable tv, nightclubs, loud music etc - stay away. if you want the world’s best beach - white sand, clea blue transparent water, snorkelling, kayaking, diving, treks in the forest etc - then this is the place for you. this is my little island paradise - havelock is quite an enchanted place - still very rural and very welcoming to outsiders. It has a very relaxed ambience. the rooms are luxurious enough - the bathrooms spotless and modern with even a jungle shower. Very unique construction - wood and other natural materials right through the resort. the italian restaurant is superb - it even has an italian cook the elephant is a real star! he swims. it is best to rent a geraless motorbike for your stay - without this, exploring the island is too expensive
This is what I think about

A very tastefully designed hotel. Superb ambiance and almost as close to nature as you can get with the assurance of a good nights sleep. The resort is built on the best beach at andaman - radha nagar beach, so you are only 2 mins walk away from the beach. the way from the jetty to the hotel is a very good drive, almost from between a forest. In rs. 200 we got a full jeep to take us there. Barefoot can also arrange your pickup and drop, but will cost you rs. 350 per vehicle. An auto will cost you about rs. 100. don't miss the snorkeling at elephant island. Local snorkeling guides charged us rs. 1500 total for 7 adults.

-very clean -excellent washrooms attached in the cottages -very ecofriendly -splendid ambiance in mid of a real forest. -very clean and comfortable wooden cottages -very good customer support

-the fan cooled nicobari cottages are open. This means you can expect an odd frog, lizard or ants in your cottage. Remember to carry odomos!! i guess the air conditioned cottages would not have this issue -i would suggest that children be not left alone in the night as they might not be comfortable outside the cottage as it becomes a pitch dark jungle. Barefoot does not use any lights outside cottages so that the forest creatures are not disturbed.

Solitude away from the fast life is what you can find over here. It lives to it's expectation of being a eco-tourist location. They have made sure you are at peace of mind by not having any means of communicating with the outer world. Room service is something you can miss as they do not encourage this to respect your privacy. Overall, just what i expected.. Being close to the nature without being disturbed :).
