PURI – it is not only a historical place but also the fourth Dham of Hindu Mythology (Moksh Dham). This place has many stories, one of which is very popular – in the Ramayana, Ravana’s brother Vibhishan was a bhakta of Lord Ram. After the battle, when Ram was returning to Ayodhya with Sita, Vibhishan asked Lord Ram, ‘How can I see once you are gone back to Ayodhya?”. Lord Ram told him, “I will give you a vardana – whenever you want to see me, just start walking from Lanka by the sea route. You will be able to walk over the sea like on land to the abode of Lord Jaganath.” Legend is that Vibhishan came to Puri every day for the morning aarti.

Hi, we happened to travel to Puri on jan 2010. It really was a good trip. Lord Jagannath temple was real attraction. The beach would have been maintained a bit better. We shopped the miniature religious paintings on silk and cotton fabrics. The traditional Pithas.
And The temple kitchen is the largest kitchen in the world. 400 cooks work daily to feed over 10000 people.
We should really mention abt the travel agent. We had come across many travel agents and finally a friend suggessted a person who really made the wonderful trip. Couldnt belive a single person can do to this service from Chennai. You can reach them at firstname.lastname@example.org
