Pushkar is one of the oldest cities of India which has the only Brahma temple of the country. It is famous for the extravagant, flamboyant Pushkar Fair. The fair brings alive the glorious tradition of Rajasthan and the roaring enthusiasm of fair participants as well as visitors makes it a lifetime experience. It’s the only fair which attracts unbelievable amount of foreign tourists.

Pushkar is 11kms from main bus stand at Ajmer. One can reach Ajmer and then take a bus or a cab to Pushkar.

Ajmer is located on the Delhi-Jaipur-Ahmedabad-Mumbai line and most trains of this route stop there. There's also a daily Shatabdi which runs from Delhi.The nearest airport is Jaipur, around 135kms away. 

By road Ajmer is almost 8hrs drive from Delhi. And But as the Delhi-Jaipur Highway is one of the best roadways, so road travel is not difficult at all.

The Pushkar Lake is one of the foremost places to see. The lake has a mythological significance and is surrounded by temples. The Brahma Temple-only one in India is of utmost importance to pilgrims is also situated here.

Besides the temples, the attraction is the Pushkar Fair which happens every year during kartik purnima. Huge crowds of colorful people, decorated camels, cattles, the exotic delicacies, the vivid stalls, competitions, the spectacular fair ground, exotic food makes it a lifetime experience. The entire desert looks so full of life, colorful and vibrant.

Around 11kms from here is Ajmer, one of the most important pilgrims of India. The mausoleum of the Sufi saint, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti  is known as Dargah Sharif which rarely people miss out on. Besides these there are some historical monuments in and around the city.

The fair has loads of activities like camel ridding, shooting, wheel rides etc along with a huge shopper’s corner. From here one can buy showpieces like armours, swords or the colorful rajasthani pagdi’s, clothes, accessories, etc. There’s enough activities and hustle bustle to keep one engaged.

The best place to stay is the RTDC Tourist Village because of its proximity to the fair ground, as during the fair vehicle movements are restricted. Besides this, budget hotels, deluxe hotels and heritage hotels like Pushkar palace or Sarovar are also available.

Within the fair, are stalls/tents serving authentic rajasthani food. The mouth-watering kormas cooked in pure ghee, the sumptuous gatte-ki-sabzi, papad ki sabzi and the famous dal-bati-churma are any food lover’s delight.

In Ajmer, the Mango Masala-my favorite restaurant there also serves such many more lip-smacking delicacies.

Almost around 140kms from Pushkar is Chowkidhani which is a sort of re-created rajasthani village. It’s famous for its ambience and food.
