Rohru is tucked away in East Himachal in the Pabbar river valley and has remained away from the general toursit's itinerary. It is bang in the middle of the largest apple belt in HP, which is a little know secret. I got a chance to explore this place way back in 2004 and have been coming here since then on my bike. You can reach Rohru (from Delhi) via many routes, via Mussoorie-Mori, or via Chakrata-Hatkoti but the best route to me has been via Shimla-Theog. The route in details has been listed under "travel directions" somewhere else on this site. From Delhi, head to NH1 till Ambala, then towards Chandigarh. A few kms before Chandigarh, take a right towards Kalka, then Shimla, carrying on NH22 to Theog, from where a right diverts to Rohru. Delhi to Shimla is 350kms, around 9hours in a car, and its a further 115kms to Rohru (4hrs). But taken precaution in Dec/Jan/Feb as the roads between Shimla and Theog and also at Kharapathar have lot of snow and black ice. There are no deluxe buses to Rohru, but normal HP transport buses run between Shimla and Rohru
