Famous residents are:- Padma Shri Gopal Das Neeraj Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi the medical college has been named to this genius Padma Vibhushan Captain Lakshmi Sahgal one time presidential election candidate Subhashini Ali, trade unionist and communist leader Shaad Ali, A famous Hindi movies director (Directed Bunty aur bubbli, Saathiya Raju Srivastava , Film Actor,Stand up Comedian Bob Woolmer, born in Kanpur, went on to play Cricket for England and coached South Africa and Pakistan. Altaf Raja, Bollywood Singer of Tum to thehre Pardesi fame.

sorry,but i have not born there....My parents have settled there after retirement...so now my home is Kanpur...I was born in Allahabad

really nice read, very practical and simple. really enjoyed going thru this. Once again proves that no one knows a place better than one who_s born there. We are all abit cynical about the cities we_ve styed in for a long time, having seen so much of them. FYI i_ve been 2ice to Kanpur, and both the trips were very nice, I remember Thaggu Ke Laddu and friends the great leather stuff i picked up for them
