Rajasthan's only hill station and a major pilgrim centre, Mount Abu is located in the south-western corner of Rajasthan, close to Gujarat. What appears on the outside as a conventional hill station has its certain charms which give peace and serenity to the Mount. From the various points for their views of the plain below, to the winter chill across the Nakki Lake, you could while your time eating a softy or belching down a Gujarati Thali and watch time zipping past. The Mount is preceded by the valley called Abu road or in local parlance as Taleti. You could stop over at Taleti local market in front of the Railway station and buy sun dried salty peanuts and then carry onwards.
Back on the Mount you can follow a bit of your higher Zen with meditation at the Brahma Kumaris Head Quarters and then trek to Sunset Point or Guru Shikhar to see the higher elevation. Be fascinated by the intricate marble sculpting of the Delwara Jain Temple finally settle for a night walk across the Mall next to the Nakki Lake. All in all a get away packaged in one location.
