It is always better to book an accommodation in advance as there is always rush on weekends and holidays. Having own vehicle is always preferable although on most of the main roads one can easily find share autos, which are popularly called as Sitara.

Here are some options for reach Alibaug: There are four ways you can reach Alibaug.1.If you do not want to use own or rented vehicle and if you are from Mumbai then go to Gateway of India and opt for ferry boats which will take you to Mandava Jetty.There are many companies and usual frequency is half an hour.Please note that during monsoon this service is not there.Ticket includes ferry fare and complimentary bus service fare from Mandhava to Alibaug town.Usual ferry travel duration is 1.25 hrs and bus travel time is around 30 min (about 16 km) to reach to Alibaug town. You can book the return ticket at Mumbai itself. Drop and pick up place is near to S.T. bus stand. 2.You can reach Bhaucha Dhakka nearby Sandhurst Road station and catch ferry boat heading towards Revas jetty.Travel time is around 1.30 hrs.This is cheaper than option 1 but slight time consuming. Please note that during monsoon this service is not there. Take S.T. Bus or shared auto to Alibaug. It will cost Rs.10 per person. Revas jetty is around 22 kms away from Alibaug town. 3.If you are staying at Thane or beyond Thane then you can go to Uran by S.T. bus and then catch share auto to Karanja jetty which is around 3 kms and takes around 15 minutes.You take small ferry boat to Revas jetty. Freqency is per hour. Last boat timing may vary depending upon tide timings. This service is operational throughout monsoon also. Normally this way is preferred by regular travelers. Take S.T. Bus or shared auto to Alibaug. It will cost Rs.10 per person. Revas jetty is around 22 kms away from Alibaug town. 4.If you have vehicle then you have to take this route. Go to Alibaug via Panvel,Pen,Vadkha on NH17 i.e.Mumbai-Goa raod and then take right turn at Vadkhal to proceed to Alibaug. Distance is about 110 kms from Thane.
