Go here for: Beaches, Weekend Break
Tarkarli has gained prominence on the tourist map of India for its untouched crystal clear seas with beautiful boats on the sea, tiny wonderful islands and ‘shuru’ trees in the backdrop. Located at the convergence of the Karli River and the Arabian Sea, the picturesque destination has many hamlets situated on the riverbank.
The locals here are mostly Hindu fishermen who have a very simple lifestyle and celebrate festivals like 'Anganewadi and Bramhan Dev Jatra' with great pomp and show. The months of August-September see the influx of non-resident Konkanis returning to their abode for celebrating the 'Ganesh Festival’ and the birth of lord Rama.
The ideal time to visit Tarkarli is during the months of December and February. There are some good stay options in this unexplored town which are well equipped with all basic amenities. MTDC Holiday Resort is a good economical stay option. Some other places to stay are Gajanan, Chintamani Resort, Apoorva Resort, and Ramesh Mithbavkar’s Home.
