Binsar, once the summer capital of the Chand Rajas (7th to 8th century), is one of the most scenic spots in the Kumaon Himalayas and a goldmine for birdwatchers. Binsar, set up in 1988 as a wildlife sanctuary is the epitome of solitude, tranquility and natural beauty for a vacationer.

Surrounded by dense forests covering an area of 45 sq. km and just 26 km from Almora, it is home to a variety of eye-catching flora and fauna. The sanctuary has over 200 species of stunning birds.

The chief attraction of Binsar is the majestic view of the Himalayas from Zero point. One can enjoy the breathtaking views of snow capped peaks like the Kedarnath, Chaukhamba, Trishul, Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot and Panchchuli.

Binsar is perfect destination for those who love to explore a destination on foot. One can take long walks, breathe in the crisp mountain air and enjoy the picturesque and charming beauty of this hill retreat.
