Ratnagiri is the gem of the Konkan. Located on ghats overlooking the Arabian Sea, Ratnagiri is a modern town which is also known as the marketing hub for Alphonso Mangoes from India. The bay is overhung beautifully over the sea and backwaters run freely. It is a place to spend a couple of days and driving about the various ghats.
Lokmanya Tilak was born here and his house has been converted to a Museum since. Ratnagiri is also the last known refuge of the Last King of Burma who was exiled here.
A short drive, from Ratnagiri to Ganapati Phule, takes you to one of Maharastra’s finest beaches. Ganapati Phule is a place of pilgrimage in Maharastra located just off the shore of the Arabian Sea. Ganapati Phule is actually a day's visit from Ratnagiri.
