Shani Shingnapur is a village best known for a temple dedicated to Shani, the Hindu god of the planet Saturn. Interestingly, the houses in this village have no doors because of the belief that Lord Shaneshwara will protect from all evil.
The Shani mandir houses a five and a half feet high black rock that symbolizes the god Shani.
A trishula is placed alongside the symbol.
A fair is held in honour of the deity on amavasya (full moon night) when as many as 3 lakh devotees visit the place.
