The village of Mori and the adjoining valley of the Tons river is a 4-hour drive from Mussoorie. One could either drive up all the way from Delhi or ideally take the overnight Mussoorie Express to reach Dehradun (arrives at 7.45 am) and take a cab to Mori (5hrs drive). The drive after Mussoori is picturesque and the final descent through the prettiest pine forest is lovely. The road was freshly laid last year and is a pleasure to drive on (at least most of the way), passing the villages of Nainbagh, Nowgaon and Purola.

Advice from travelers on what to do in Mori

The reason to visit is to stay at one of the rafting camps. I stayed at Camp Lunagad, run by Aquaterra Adventures ( and spend a few days rafting, hiking, visiting the local villages and even a very old Temple. A number of overnight trekking options are also available using the camp as base.
