Go here for: Hills, Weekend Breaks, Offbeat
Kemmannugundi is one of the popular hill stations of Karnataka. Nestled amidst greenery in higher reaches of Sahyadri mountains, the place that was once known for its iron ore mining is now a sought after place for spending summer weekends. Yet, it is not a crowded place with many hotels and a rush of tourists – everyone gets their comfort space and solitude, and peace prevails through the seasons.
While the summer days are ideal to escape the heat, winter evenings can get cold here, and monsoons lash these hills mercilessly for three months every year.
Endless undulations of grassy hills, shola forests, small streams that emerge from the sholas are something to look forward to all around Kemmannugundi. It was also a summer retreat of the kings of Mysore.
