If one thing that I love about this town in the Garhwal Himalayas is the 180 degree views of the Himalayas that one can get to see from here on a clear day. Pauri is located at a height of 1814 meters above sea level and is a great place to take long winding walks around the town. Pauri is also a lovely place for trekking. The other thing that I like about the town is its pleasant climate, which most of the year remains cool except in May-June. Even then one has to use a quilt at night. So, sleeping is one of the things that I love to do in Pauri.

Pauri is the headquarters of the district Pauri Garhwal, which is one of the largest districts of the Garwhal. The district has Chamoli, Nanital, Bijnor, Haridwar, Dehradun, Rudraprayag and Tehri Garhwal around it.

The Pauri town itself is a bustling one as it is the main market for many villages around the city. Locals from nearby villages come here to shop for essential household items, which are not available in small village shops.

For a typical traveller looking to sightsee and enjoy, there is not much to see and do. Pauri is an ideal place for someone looking to escape from the daily grind. The pace of life here is laidback and is great for those who want to take a dip in the laid-back life of a town. Since Pauri is major city, one may get all kinds of means of modern communication. There are number of cyber cafes, mobile connectivity is g ood and one can get direct buses and jeeps to Haridwar, Kotdwar, Rishikesh, Devprayag, Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Lansdowne and Khirsu.
