Chhattisgarh is located in the central part of India and has been carved out of Madhya Pradesh. Chhattisgarh is endowed with huge mineral deposits and forest resources. The state also has the largest concentration of Schedule Tribes in the country. Chhattisgarh has tropical climate with hot summer and cold winters. Day temperature during summers (mid-April to June end) touches a high of around 45°C while in the winters the temperature may fall well below 10°C. Chhattisgarh has a number of places of tourist interest that one can visit. The most popular being Bastar - once the largest district in India. Other tourist attractions in Chhattisgarh include Dantewada, Kanker, Raipur and Raigarh. Chhattisgarh also has some of India's finest waterfalls. The state is a treasure trove of natural beauty.
