Vedenthangal bird’s sanctuary is one of the oldest in India and it is the smallest in size (approx. 30 hecters) but attracts lot of tourists every season and has got a unique history also. The farmers of course local people protected the lake sanctuary for centuries now because they have realized that the birds droppings falling in to the lake increases the nitrogen values in the water and the water which used for agriculture, the end result of the cultivation’s amazing that also without spending money for the fertilizer. The lake size is about 30 hectares and every season almost 30-40 thousand birds staying there (most of the birds migrated from Australia and Siberia; remember these birds are flying nearly 10000-15000 miles without stop…)

Really one can enjoy the stay at "V" while watching the behavior of the birds right from the building of nests, breeding, feeding, drinking, flying around the lake..
