The Queen of the Hills, Ooty or Udhagamandalam is one of the most popular hill stations of South India. The fact that it was the favorite haunt of the filmmakers who used to flock there for their film shoots well before the scenic locales of Europe & Australasia were discovered and that it is still one of the favorite destinations of the honeymooners is well suggestive of its beautiful environs. Located at a height of 2240m, at the very confluence of where the Eastern and Western Ghats meet, Ooty represents the best of the two worlds as seen in its coffee and tea plantations, sprawling grasslands, pine and confer trees not to mention rolling hills covered with dense vegetation etc. Its salubrious climate is also one of the reasons why some of the top residential schools and educational institutions are located here.
