Malshej Ghat is a mountain range approx 800m and is about 3 hrs drive from Mumbai. The route is along the Kalyan Murbad Roadd going to Ahmednagar. In the monsoons it is a veritable waterfall paradise as the entire hill side is covered with millions of waterfalls and mist. Some are so big that they fall over the road. There is a stretch just before the Malshej Ghat small tunnel where there are three such waterfall canopies over the road and it is quite a thrill to walk this length, watching out for traffic of course as it is the Kalyan Nagar State Highway.

Advice from travelers on what to do in Malshej Ghat

Ajay on 07 Oct 2009

Malshej Ghat is one of the nice hill stations closer to Mumbai (similar to Lonavala), however, does not have the kind of commercialisation that of Lonavala. There is greenery all around. The view of Sahayadri's is fabulous. Place to stay is MTDC. Its one of the very nice property with reasonable price. The view from MTDC is superb. Approach: Take the Mumbai - Nasik Highway. At Kalyan - Bhiwandi junction, get to Kalyan and then take Murbad road. This road will take to to Malshej as you pass through Titwala, Murbad. The road is a bit deserted hence best taken during day hours. Food: Food for veg is not so great at MTDC. The smell in the restuarant is very pungent. Places to stay: I dont think there are many good options other than MTDC Around: One can visit the dam close by, enjoy the waterfalls, visit two astavinayak temples (Ozar and Lenandri)
