Enjoy the backwaters on board the “Kettuvalam” as the Houseboats are called in the local Malayalam language.

Really a very nice place. The most i liked throughout the Kerala state is the disipline of the people. No waste on the roads. Alleppey off course is a great place to explore. One should take a ride in the house boat with at least a single stay although it is bit expensive.

You can reach Alleppey by road, air and rail. By air the nearest airport is Thiruvananthapuram but if you want to go by rail then you can take the Kerala Sampark Kranti from Delhi. The train takes about 3 days travesing through the scenic western ghats passing through Mdagaon, Kannur, Kasgargod before reaching Alleppey.
