Hampi does not figure on any major rail or flight routes. The nearest railway station is at Hospet, nearly 13 km from Hampi. One option could be to take catch a bus for Hampi from Hospet – buses leave every hour from the Bus Station located next to the station. You can also take an auto, though you will have to haggle a bit. We were told that auto-hire will cost Rs.100 but we were able to bring it down to Rs.60.

The nearest domestic airport is located at Bellary – 60 km away. The nearest international airport is at Bangalore – 350 km away.

By road – the KSRTC connects Hampi to nearby cities. There are some daily buses from Bangalore. There are other private operators who run buses from locations like Goa and Gokarna.

Driving down from Blore one has to reach chitradurga on the beautiful NH 4 and after one crosses the town limit one has to watch for a right turn towards hospet, this road is rough in patches around 18 kms as one approaches kudilgi town.  Better to reach in the daylight one is bound to get confused in the night on when one nears Hospet, there are no sign boards and traffic is extremely high.

One can undertake a weekend trip to Hampi organised by KSTDC, they cover all destinations inclusive of accomodation for Rs 1900/- per head.
