“Radharani Mitra joined the BBC World Service Trust, the development
communication arm of the BBC, after nearly two decades in advertising. Travel is
one of her passions, that has taken her to many fascinating places in India and
abroad besides her work. She agrees with G K Chesterton, “The traveler sees what
he sees, the tourist sees what he has come to see.” For her, people, experiences,
food, culture, history are integral parts of any journey. Some of her most treasured
travel moments: Driving through the lunar landscape in Ladakh, dusk at Sundarbans,
being in Cezanne’s studio in Aix-en-Provence, France, dining aboard her host’s boat
on the Bosphorus in Istanbul. Her favourite travelogues: The Happy Isles of Oceania
by Paul Theroux and From the Holy Mountain by William Dalrymple.
