It was late; I was tired after a hard day at work, so I was having coffee with some friends to freshen up myself. Suddenly my phone bell rang; it was one of my very close friend from Banaras. It was a call to invite me to her wedding. I decided to go away for a few days to enjoy with friends and booked a train ticket to Banaras. Finally the day arrived & we reached to Banaras. My friends were very excited as they were visiting this place for the very first time. Banaras!!! Known for its “akkhadpan” in the nature.

Banaras is widely known for its spiritual lifestyle. We reached to Banaras. We went to a Guest House and had a few minutes to freshen up before heading to the famous Ghats of Kashi. The fabulous morning of city with first beam of sun on the streams of sacred Ganga is famous as ‘Subah-e-Banaras’ (dawn at Varanasi). The Ghats of Banaras are well-known for the cremation. Hindus believe that it is auspicious to die in Varanasi, that’s why some Ghats are known as Burning Ghats, where bodies are cremated and their ashes are placed in the Ganges.

On our way to Ghat, we saw people, holding a bag in their hand with their clothes and soaps, going to Ghats to take bath on the banks of the river Ganges. It was really very awesome to have tea on the banks of the Ganges in "Kulhada". This was the experience I did not want to miss during my trip. We clicked some snaps and proceeded further to have some food. We decided to have spicy but yummy “kachori-sabji” in the breakfast with “jalebis”, undoubtedly mouth-watering dish. We saw shop owner, preparing a dish with milk. Shop owner told us that it is one more specialty in the breakfast called “malaiyo” prepared by milk and kesar. Really, truly speaking, you can get theses foods anywhere but you can’t find the taste.

Boating is very popular, especially at sunrise and sunset. We hired a boat and started our boat riding from Dasaswamedh Ghat and headed up to Manikarnika Ghat to see the cremations in progress. You will find the best view of ‘Subah-e-Banaras’ from Malviya Bridge’.

After roaming and rambling the Ghat, we planned to visit the famous "Banaras Hindu University" (I completed my Graduation from) founded by Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya. We went to "Kashi Vishwanath Temple" (New) situated in the campus. It has been the source of spiritual atmosphere inside the campus.

It was the end of our first day in Banaras. We took a big Kullhad of Lassi and took an open rickshaw and headed towards our Guest House to attain our Friend's Wedding. :)
