| Places to see | Places to stay | How to reach | Fast Facts |

Into each life some rain must fall…no matter when and where! But to see a place rain-drenched and wrapped in a green cover - you must come to Munnar. It is simply stunning. High up in the hills of Munnar, the monsoon brings a kind of magic to all the senses. Not many people dare visit a hill station in the rains, but at Munnar, it’s worth the effort.

Munnar

Munnar is a well known hill station in Kerala known for its scenic beauty. Munnar is situated at the confluence of the mountain streams Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. And hence the name ‘Munnar’ - means ‘three rivers’. Lying at over 6000 ft height above sea level, Munnar is covered with tea & coffee plantations, crisscrossed with gushing streams and cascading waterfalls. In the rainy season, Munnar becomes a playfield for the streams and waterfalls and you find one at practically every bend of the mountain road.

Munnar was once the summer resort of the British in South India. Its sprawling tea plantations, winding lanes and overall picture postcard look with ample holiday facilities has made Munnar a popular tourist destination in Kerala. Its forests and grasslands are home to exotic flora and fauna. Neelakurinji, the beautiful blue flower bathe the hills in blue when it blooms; though it blooms only once in 12 years. Munnar also has the highest peak in South India, Anamudi.

Munnar is surely a nature lover's paradise monsoon or no monsoon. It offers a fascinating view of low-lying clouds and mist laden valleys that make for a stunning sight. Munnar’s pleasing climate further accentuates its appeal. Colonial style churches, luxurious estate clubs and the Raj era buildings add to its picture postcard look.
