Mughal Garderns, Rashtrapati Bhavan
The Rashtrapati Bhavan opens its gates for us lowly mortals for the months of February and March. The Mughal Gardens are in full bloom in the spring and you can enjoy the beauty of the perennial rose, calendula, larkspur, pansy, marigold, chrysanthemum etc. the lotus shaped fountains are a special delight.
Timings: Open from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm. Closed on Mondays.
Garden of Five Senses, Said-ul-ajab, Mehrauli
An ideal spot for picnics, it is a treat for the five senses. The textures of the rocks and sandstone, the curving pathways, metal trees and running brooks appeal to the sight and invite the visitor to explore the garden. Spring adds the charm of blooming flowers and butterflies. This being the migratory season, you might spot humming birds, kingfishers and storks sharing the space with you.
Timings: Open all 7 days from 6 am to 9 pm.
Dilli Haat, Opposite INA Market
What better way to enjoy the sunshine than with some shopping and good food and the whole family? Head to Dilli Haat and take in the exhibition from craftsmen from across the country. Cool off with a glass of chilled fruit beer after all that strenuous shopping.
Timings: Open all days from 11 am to 10 pm.
Humayun’s Tomb, Nizamuddin
This magnificent piece of Mughal architecture now has manicured lawns maintained by the Aga Khan Foundation. February is the best time to enjoy its beauty and spend a leisurely day strolling around the huge complex. See the colours of the domes change from white to pink with the falling dusk.
Timings: Open on all days from sunrise to sunset.
