off season yes - this was when the Gangotri temple was closing for the year... temperatures were low... and there were just a handful of tourists in that area...but none in Harsil...as most of the tourists then were foreign nationals and Harsil being a cantonement does not allow them to night-stay...

seems like you visited Harsil during the off-season... when was this??? the chowk was a little more crowded last June when i visited.... ..liking this snap for its livliness
