Chhatbir Zoo: Great place to visit with kids, the zoo is located on the banks of River Ghaggar, 15 km from Chandigarh city. The zoo lies on the Chandigarh-Patiala Road and is home to a number of animals (the highlight being lion & tiger), birds and reptiles.

Chandi Devi Temple: The temple is located in Panchkula, 10 km away from Chandigarh. In fact, the name Chandigarh is derived from this temple. Nearby is the temple of Mansa Devi. Both the temples are built in the North Indian style of architecture.

Pinjore Garden: One of the beautiful places to visit near Chandigarh, Pinjore is 20 km from Chandigarh on the route to Kalka. Pinjore is also associated with the Hindu epic Mahabharata as one of the spots where the Pandava brothers rested while in exile. The gardens spread over 100 acres have three palaces built in the Mughal and Rajasthani styles, and numerous fountains and pavilions.

Morni Hills: A beautiful getaway, Morni Hills, 45 km from Chandigarh is a nature park at an altitude of 3,000 feet. Lovely place to connect with nature, here you can try rock climbing and trekking. One can also sight wild deer, the langurs and peacocks.
