Getting there

By Air: The airport at Jaipur is located near Sanganer at a distance of 13 km from the city of Jaipur. Many domestic airlines connect Jaipur to all the major cities in India.

By Rail: Jaipur is well connected by rail network from different parts of India. There are a number of trains that run on a regular basis to and from Jaipur. From Delhi the Pink City Express is a convenient train that connects Jaipur. The train leaves Delhi at 6 in the morning and reaches Jaipur at 11 am.

By Road: Jaipur is well connected by road to major cities in India. State transport buses of Rajasthan and neighbouring states connect Jaipur with major towns in north India.

City Palace

City Palace: A must visit tourist attraction in Jaipur, the City Palace is located in the heart of the walled city. An imposing structure of beautiful temples, courtyards and  palaces, the City Palace Complex gives you an idea about the farsightedness of the founder of Jaipur Sawai Jai Singh. The City Palace is a fine blend of Mughal and Rajpoot architecture and the royal family still lives in a part of the palace.

Jantar Mantar: Jantar Mantar is one of the five observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh in India . His passion for astronomy and  numerology inspired him to execute this observatory and 4 others in different parts of India.

Hawa Mahal

Hawa Mahal: Perhaps the most popular tourist attraction in Jaipur,  Hawa Mahal also called Palace of Winds. Hawa Mahal was built for the ladies of the royal household to watch everyday life and processions in the city from their veiled comfort. Hawa Mahal is a five-storey building overlooking the busy bazaar.

Jaipur Markets: Jaipur is also known for its  colorful bazaars, there are a number of markets in Jaipur that are worth visiting. Some of the popular bazaars of Jaipur included Johari Bazaar (known for precious, & semi-precious stones), Bapu Bazaar and Nehru Bazaar (for footwear), Kishanpol Bazaar (for textiles and wooden furniture), and Tripolia Bazaar (for carpets, ironware and brassware).

Amber Fort

Amber Fort: Pronounced as Amer, the fort is popular tourist attraction in Jaipur. It is located 11 km from the city. Amber was the center of power before the capital was shifted to the present day Jaipur. The Amber Fort was constructed by the ruler of that time Raja Man Singh I.

Kanak Vrindavan: A vast complex with beautiful landscaped gardens and temple, Kanak Vrindavan is located in the foothills of Nahargarh hills on the way towards Amer, this complex is a popular spot for picnic and film shoots. You can visit the complex on your to three garland forts of Jaipur- Nahargarh, Jaigarh and Amber.

Jaigarh Fort

Jaigarh Fort: One of the  finest military fortresses of the Medieval period, Jaigarh Fort was built between 15th and 18th century. It is located about 15 km from Jaipur. It has palaces, gardens, open and covered reservoirs, a grannary, an armoury, a well planned cannon foundry, several temples, a tall tower and giant-mounted cannon the Jai Ban, the largest in the country.

Nahargarh Fort: Overlooking the city, the Nahargarh Fort was built in 1734 by Jai Singh. The fort was later extended in 1868. The fort was built to bolster the defence of Amber. One of the highlights of  the fort is the Madhavendra Bhawn, built by Sawai Ram Singh II.

Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh

Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh: Another well known place to visit is Sisodia Rani Bagh, which is located along the road to Agra through a narrow gorge in the south-eastern corner of the walled city. Several landscaped gardens were constructed by the kings and important courtiers in the 18th and 19th centuries. The largest and the most famous amongst these is a garden built by Sawai Jai Singh II for his Sisodia Queen - The Sisodia Rani-ka-Bagh.

Besides the above mentioned places, one can also head to two nearby tourist destinations – Ajmer and Pushkar.
