4. In 2007, Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh lead a 300 run partnership fightback from 61/4 breaking several records.

Bangalore is among one of the cities where matches of the Indian Premier League are being played in M Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is perhaps the most exciting cricket extravaganza in the world after Cricket World Cup. The Indian Premier League is formed on the lines of English Premier League (football) and National Basket Ball (NBA) of the United States. The tournament features 8 teams from different metro cities of the country and almost all the major cricket players from around the world are participating in the IPL twenty20 championship. Getting there

By Air: Bangalore is well connected by air with other cities. There are daily flights to and from Bangalore to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Calcutta, Hyderabad, Goa and other major cities in India. Bangalore Airport is located about 10 km from the M.G. Road area in the city. Airport coach transfers run by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, tourist taxis, prepaid taxi services and auto-rickshaws provide quick and safe transfer to and from Bangalore Airport.

By Rail: Indian Railway connects Bangalore with the rest of India through efficient railway system. Bangalore is an important railway station on the southern railway network. There are two major railway stations in Bangalore - the Bangalore city railway station and Bangalore cantonment railway station. The Cantonment station is convenient for passengers in and around the MG Road area.

By Road: National Highway 4, 7 and 48 connects Bangalore to other parts of the country. All neighboring State Road Transport Corporations, from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Goa, connect the city with their respective states. Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation also runs bus services to the neighbouring states.

Lal Bagh, Bangalore

Lalbagh: An excellent picnic spot in Bangalore is the Lalbagh that was laid out by Hyder Ali in the 18th century. Within the Gardens there is a beautiful lake with a water spread area of 1.5 Sq. Km dotted with picturesque tiny islands.

Vidhana Soudha: It is hard to miss this magnificent piece of architecture in Bangalore. One of the most prominent landmarks, Vidhana Soudha is a magnificent granite structure that houses both the Legislative Chambers of the State Government.

Palace of Tipu Sultan

Palace of Tipu Sultan: Another interesting historic building in Bangalore is the Palace of the "Tiger of Mysore" – Tipu Sultan. The structure is one of the most remarkable Islamic buildings in the city. The two-storey ornate wooden palace has been converted into a museum and provides a wealth of information about the glorious period of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan.

Cauvery Handicrafts Emporium: For souvenirs and art shopping, Cauvery Handicrafts Emporium is a shopper’s paradise. The emporium houses exquisite handicraft items in rosewood, sandalwood, wood-inlay, lacquerware and bidriware.

Cubbon park, Bangalore

Cubbon Park:  Spread over an area of more than 300 acres in the heart of the city, the Cubbon Park serves as the lung space of the ever-growing Bangalore city. The park was designed by Lt. General Sir Mark Cubbon, in 1864 and is dotted with beautiful statues, flowering trees and fountains. It also has a library.

MG Road: A good place to get a feel of the city. MG Road is where your can go shopping or pub hopping. Just trawl down the famous Brigade Road, MG Road and Church Street to check out the most happening water holes in the city. Other things worth checking here are Bangalore Food and heading to Opus behind Carmel College for art shows.

Dodda Basavanna Temple

Bull Temple (Dodda Basavanna Temple): The gigantic image of the celestial bull, Nandi, which stands at 4.57 meters, is a classic example of Dravidian architecture. The temple remains a hub of activity during a yearly festival to celebrate the harvesting of peanuts, (Kallekai parse). The festival is held during the month of Nov-Dec, which attracts large crowds from all over the state.

KSTDC Sightseeing Tour: A good way to explore Bangalore is by taking KSTDC Sightseeing Tour that starts at 7:30 am and 2 pm. The sightseeing tour covers Vidhana Soudha, Lalbagh, Bull Temple, Tipu’s Palace, Museum, Cauvery Handicrafts Emporium and Ulsoor Lake.

Nandi Hills
Nandi Hills: An interesting place near Bangalore (Bengaluru) is the famous Nandi Hills. It is the nearest hill station from Bengaluru (Bangalore) and a good option for a driving holiday. One can take the Hyderabad highway (NH7/Yelahanka Road) from Bengaluru to reach the Nandi Hills. After 38 km along the highway, couple of km past Devanahalli, you can see a road going to the left towards Nandi Hills.

Bheemeshwari: Wellknown as the Cauvery Fishing Camp (CFC) and famous for the 'Mahaseer' ('Mahasheer') fish, Bheemeshwari makes for an action packed weekend getaway.

Tigers-Bannerghatta National Park

Bannerghatta National Park: Just 22 km away from Bengaluru city, along the Bannerghatta road, the Bannerghatta National Park is a good place to visit. Just about 10 km from IIMB campus, Bannerghatta national park is probably the easiest place, where you can spot wild animals like lions and tigers roaming freely in something resembling a forest.

Camp Gee Dee: Located about 30 km from town, Camp Gee Dee offers outdoor enthusiasts a range of activities to recharge their batteries. Bird watching, mountain biking and trekking are some great options that one can take there.

Mysore Palace

Mysore: A popular getaway from Bangalore is Mysore. Located about 140 km away from Bangalore, Mysore has Maharaja's palace, which dominates the city's skyline. It is an important tourist attraction with extravaganza of color, stained glass, mirrors, with richly carved wooden doors and mosaic floors. The palace also house series of paintings depicting the life in Mysore during that time.
